When you first jump into the demo, made available as part of the Steam Next Fest, the Command & Conquer influence is obvious, from the controls to the base-building mechanics. The skirmish mode introduces the classic formula of constructing power stations, barracks, factories, and a superweapon for each side. It’s a setup that will resonate with long-time RTS players, and for a moment, it feels like stepping back into the golden age of the genre. However, the initial excitement fades as the deeper issues of the game become apparent.

This is such a shame, because on the surface it looks like it wouldbe a cracking game. Shame they have missed theball.

This line in the full article caught my attention, "It attempts to capture the nostalgia of Command & Conquer while also trying to modernize the RTS genre, but it struggles to do either effectively." I am seeing many new RTS games are trying to be more than one thing. Threading the needle to appeal to both sides is quite difficult, and I think this is why this game falls flat.

In all honesty, I believe that the creators of RTS Tactical Warfare had the intention of dishing out the very best. In the RTS gaming world saturated with either the older features or the modernized era, this game dared to be different by trying to incorporate both.
It might not have resulted in the most pleasant of experience, but it surely was something different from the usual.

Always hard to push classic features into current day requirements. I hope they can properly balance the game.
