I'm a bit confused. Why did they want the Earth's moon to be near the Sanctuary? I'm assuming the Sanctuary to be near the Earth, correct?

Negative. I mentioned in a different thread that the 'classic Dyson Sphere idea is a sphere with a diameter of 1 AU, so that it effectively encompasses the entire orbit of Earth.' Sanctuary is different in that it is much closer to the surface of the sun. As for the Mooncrash. It isn't known if it was EDA or Chosen who caused it, but both blamed the other and it is the pretext for the conflict.

At least that's my understanding. We need some Lore Lords to sign up!

It was planned to mine the Moon for resources to continue construction of Sanctuary, every other planet except Earth was mined out for resources and are not existent anymore.

This is interesting and makes sense being that all other planets aside from Earth were already mine until there was nothing else left.

Thanks for bringing this up as I feel it would have been something I would have missed otherwise.

They must not have been environmentalists. 😀 However, since matter cannot be created from nothing, I suppose that was the only choice. Anyone have an opinion?

They have another option of lifting matter from the sun itself, but it is much slower process

well with my faction that i am cooking they would be the responsible for that (but what i said is not canon and 50% chances to not get added)

They needed to get the material somewhere right? Since pretty much every other planet was drained of their resources, they had to resort to whatever they could get their hands on. Other than getting resources from the sun, which was mentioned above I suppose they had no other choice.

Planets weren't just drained of resources, they are completely gone, they don't exist.

How Earth wasn't mined out of resources like the other planets is what the answer eludes me. What could really be the reason for that?

It is unlikely that there are many resources left on the planet, but it makes sense to keep some resources on it for it to be somewhat independent. Right now, population of Earth is around 1 trillion(a lot of people live underground) which is also equal to population of Sanctuary(people didn't have time to move there completely). Some resources had to be left on Earth to make sure it can survive on its own for long enough untill Sanctuary is somewhat finished and most of the people moved there

So it is a deliberate action, leaving the earth’s resources. But again someone said that it is no longer in existence, I’m a little confused.

Earth still exists. All other planets were completely mined out and Moon crashed on its way to Sanctuary and got consumed by the star itself

Now, that makes a sense to everything that have happened with other planets and their resources. People who lived in earth needed something to survive and thrive on until Sanctuary is in a good shape for the migration to begin.
