I have come across this question on several platforms. A lot of people do not know how they can dive into RTS gaming. They asked such questions basically because they had no idea where to start. Here is the answer you've been waiting for. There are quite simple and beginner-friendly games. You can start with StarCraft II. It's quite simple to master.

I haven't tried StarCraft yet, but I might consider this. Is there a mobile version for this or can I only access this game on PC? Due to the state of my laptop, I don't really use it for playing games.

I'd recommend starting with Age of Empires II. It's one of the classics, and it's quite easy to learn. The learning curve is gentle for beginners. You would learn the basics in the game's campaign mode.

I also believe that StarCraft II is good for a newcomer. It's simple, not difficult to learn, and it's more modern, with better graphics. What makes it even better is the game's tutorial. It's very comprehensive, and it will teach you micro and macro management in a simple way.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Warcraft III: Reforged are two Real Time strategy games that are beginner's friendly. StarCraft II is an amazing RTS game. I enjoyed playing it whenever I have the chance.

Just like some users suggested I also recommend Age of Empires II. I started with this game. Well, it is not an easy game for starters, even the those who have been paying for a long time find difficult at some point but it is a great game and it will make you fall in love with RTS games

If you're to compare playing StarCraft II and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, which one of the RTS games would you rate as being more beginner friendly? I'm asking hoping that you already played StarCraft II.

I will go with Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition because StarCraft series is one of the hardest RTS games. It is not just me who believe StarCraft including StarCraft II is hard game, there are a lot of people who believe this game is really hard.

Age of Empires II is a good game for beginners. It is never easy, but I suppose that is a good way to educate people. The campaign mode is designed to show the principles of the game, while multiplayer will help to develop them.

You are not wrong. Age of Empires II is an rts game that brings some better angle for anyone looking to get into this genre. It is not cumbersome or sophisticated like some other advanced rts games.
