Age of Darkness: Final Stand has been in development for some time now, and in early access for the past two years. It is a wave-based survival RTS often compared to "They Are Billions," another wave-based survival RTS. However, this game is set in a medieval fantasy world, as opposed to the steampunk setting of "They Are Billions." The developers have made significant progress since its initial release, so you might want to look at what it has to offer.
The game features three unique factions, each with two heroes, totalling six heroes, each with their own unique perks and abilities. This variety is much appreciated by the game's community, but some fans have said they are disappointed the factions play almost exactly the same way. They also say there are only minor differences in available heroes, units, and the appearance of their town halls.
Resource management is a crucial aspect of Age of Darkness: Final Stand. The game has four main resources which are Population, Housing, Food, and Gold. These resources are interconnected, with Population used to build houses for Gold, Gold used for houses and units, houses used for Gold through taxes, and Farms requiring Population to produce Food.
Additionally, there are three other resources tied to technology and progression. These are Wood, Stone, and Iron. These resources allow players to build better units, structures, and defences as the game progresses, like you would expect in any other RTS game.
Defence is another critical aspect of the game. Players must build up defences, secure choke points with walls, towers, and ballista, and train their own waves of soldiers to survive heavy enemy waves. This is especially important during death nights that send a huge wave of enemies every fifth night. The game offers several units divided into Hero, Melee, Ranged, and Siege types.
Here is a detailed review. Note that this video is quite long.
