For me, realism makes games more realistic and, at the same time, can make the game absolutely boring too. So, this indicates that balancing the gameplay is very important. I think that games should be fun and a little real. What about you?

I love realistic games because they feel true to life. To me, some level of freedom adds creativity to the gameplay. In the Age of Empires, realism makes the game better and more immersive.

I want to have that balance. If the gameplay is not mixing both realism and the fun side, I won't be keen to play that kind of game.

I believe that less realism should be adopted in games. Afterall, we are facing enough of reality as it is. We need games that will take us away from realism, at least for the period we are playing it.

Realistic elements in the game certainly makes it interesting. When the game has realistic characters, realistic environment, and even the story that resembles some sorts of realism, for instance based on history or certain events, the fun doubles.

Fun comes first when I play RTS games because that's when it becomes more exciting. A little of the real world is good, but it's cool to keep things exciting. For instance, games such as StarCraft are highly realistic, but they are also very entertaining.
