Happy New Year. 2026 is when Sanctuary: Shattered Sun’s Kickstarter and demo launch. The dev team has been heads-down working on the game, which means communication hasn’t been great. That changes now.
The development team has been focused on making Sanctuary work as an RTS. The cost has been inconsistent updates. We’ve been seeing comments questioning if the project is cancelled, and I need to address that directly.

Sanctuary is not cancelled. The team is working. You’re going to see proof of that over the next few months as we move toward the Kickstarter launch.
Multiplayer Showcase
Multiplayer is functional. The dev team streamed a multiplayer match in the official Discord at the end of 2025, and we’re organizing a proper multiplayer showcase for February 2026 as a Patreon-exclusive Q&A with the development team. We’ll run multiple sessions across different time zones so everyone gets a shot at participating. Specific dates will be announced on our channels when we confirm them. You’ll see the game being played by multiple people simultaneously, which is the proof you need that development is progressing.

Developer Interview Video
I’ve convinced Sanctuary producer nine2 to sit down with me for a video interview in February. You’ve got questions about where we are with development, what the timeline looks like, what’s been happening during the silence. You’ve supported this project for years, and you’re getting answers. We’ll cover the current state of the game, the roadmap to Kickstarter, and what comes after.

Monthly Progress Reports
Starting in February, you’re getting monthly progress reports posted to Steam and YouTube. I know we need to do better on engagement. I’m extracting updates and content from the dev team every month. These reports will be regular and scheduled. If there’s nothing new to show in a given month, I’ll tell you that and explain why. Transparency means being honest when progress is slow, not just shouting when there’s something shiny to show off.

Kickstarter Stretch Goals
The Kickstarter will have stretch goals. I want to start publishing what those stretch goals are and what they mean for the game. You’ll know exactly what your backing gets you at the base level and what gets added if the campaign exceeds the initial target. No vague promises about ‘enhanced features’ or mystery unlocks. You’ll see the specific gameplay additions, content expansions, or technical improvements each funding tier brings.

Additional Content
Between now and the Kickstarter launch, we’re publishing unit cards with stat breakdowns, explanations of core game mechanics and systems, concept art from the development process, and lore entries that establish the game’s setting and factions. The dev team might reveal another Tier 5 faction before launch, but I’m not promising that until they confirm they’re ready to show it. Everything else on that list is confirmed and scheduled.
We’re establishing a communication routine. No more months of silence. You’ll hear from us on a set schedule, even if the update is just “we’re still working on X system and it’s taking longer than expected.” The community has been patient through years of development with minimal updates. You deserve better than silence and vague reassurances. You’re getting specific timelines, regular content, and honest communication about development progress and setbacks.
The Kickstarter and demo launch in 2026. That’s the commitment. We’ll be transparent about progress, problems, and timelines as we move toward that launch. This year, you finally get to play Sanctuary: Shattered Sun.
