Crazy Goats Games Studio is developing a new horror/RTS game called "Worshippers of Cthulhu". It is an interesting take on the RTS concept because it combines elements of traditional city-building and Lovecraft horror.
In Worshippers of Cthulhu, players assume the role of a cult leader in a deeply immersive management simulation. The game makes you the leader of a growing following, and you have to make critical decisions about your cultists' duties, spiritual development, and participation in mystical ceremonies.
The gameplay extends beyond cult management into city-building across several mysterious islands. Each location presents unique challenges, from establishing complex production chains to investigating dangerous ruins.
Central to the experience are the Lovecraftian rituals. The game developers carefully designed them to grant players access to forbidden knowledge and otherworldly powers.
Diverting slightly from other RTS games, strategic resource management takes an interesting turn as players interact with non-believing populations. These encounters present multiple diplomatic and tactical options, including conquest, resource acquisition, or religious conversion.
The game is able to combine all these into a cohesive gameplay experience while also keeping an authentic period atmosphere and thematic storytelling.
Worshippers of Cthulhu will be available on Steam and Epic Games, and is available right now on both platforms as a demo.
