Taking it a step further. How 3D is map design? Taking Supcom2 as an example, some of the levels were multi-tiered. Would love to see that. 81friHuqmaL._AC_SL1500_.jpg81NVt0U7zUL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

Maybe this would feature more heavily in areas of the Dyson Sphere which were still under construction with different strata of the sphere to fight over. Taking this one step further, in Total Annihilation battles on Core Prime allowed metal extractors to be placed anywhere (since the world was made of metal!). If these areas close to the construction zones had exposed metal areas maybe this could be a feature. Unlimited mass would make for a very different game. No longer would map control be important and turtles would benefit greatly.

Allowing my mental imagination to run away with me maybe?

"Core Prime is an inert celestial body ensconced within a metallic cocoon. Devoid of any organic existence, this realm saw the extinction of such lifeforms eons ago. Enshrouded beneath its exterior lies an extensive web of interconnected computers, intricately transforming the planet into a colossal supercomputer. Amidst the desolate metallic terrain, occasional disruptions emerge in the form of channels carrying waste and oceans awash in viscous oils, their pollution stemming from the planet's extensive industrial endeavours. Towering walls host manufacturing facilities and storage hubs, while formidable artillery installations crown lofty ramparts and line the course of the waste canals."

Brings back such memories. TA was a milestone in RTS history. Gone but never forgotten.

We like more flatter maps ... there are still cliffs and hills etc but its more realistic and to scale. We might have a chasm or two where you can see deep down, and have a model or two like a giant space ship crashed taking up half the map, but for the most part ... cliffs hills and trees and fighting in the countryside.

How technical is the map creator? Would it be able to create this type of terrain - multi-tiered - from height maps?
