Will Sanctuary: Shattered Sun support LAN play so I can play with my buddies without having to connect to the internet?

Unknown, but I’ll find out. LAN isn’t anywhere near as popular as it used to be due to high speed internet so I’m not sure if it’s even been considered!

Lan support, I mean most games nowadays that are new and come out doesn't support it :P

I mean if it doesn't and yo are good with networking you still are able to do it anyway.

It's a shame that most games no longer support this option due to how available high-speed internet is now. Even though that is the case, some people do like to go back and use LAN just like the old times so it would be nice to see it in a game like shattered sun but whether we will, we will have to wait and see.

It is unclear at this point.
Most important feature is, to allow see other players worldwide in the lobby and able to play with any of them.
Lan, as mentioned earlier already, is less common. And demand is so low, that may not be viable to develop, unless implementation will be simple and quick.

However, at this moment we internally during tests can connect by IP, including one of defaults IPs 192.168.0.x.
So it is depending, if we leave that option open. Then I don't see problem to be able connect on the local lan.
But again, due various unknown technicalities that we may face in further development, it is too early to confirm anything regarding local parties.

It's unfortunate to hear this is considered a worthless feature. I value it highly. But that is great to hear that it is functional in development. I hope you consider leaving it as an option! Even if console commands are required to use it, I'd be happy.

Anyway, thank you for the information, and your efforts.

If LAN is going to be supported then in my case rent a shop out and then but 10 computers and have a gaming night hahahahaha
Most likely you will be able to do so anyway. For such endeavor, it is more than likely, you will have some at least basics slow internet connection on sight, so everybody on local network can join a game with no issue. All you would need for each client, is an access to game lobby.
Rest of game and networking will happen between all local PCs on site. :)
Btw., I would love to attend such local fun in larger group.

Nowadays, the most important aspect in LAN support is that, when master servers get closed, you can still play it with the LAN feature. Often, a server browser is not even necessary. Join by IP or a console command is fine.

Honestly in this day and age I highly doubt there would be LAN support. Are there any modern games that support LAN? It would be a cool feature to have, but no one really has LAN parties anymore so it would be redundant to add a feature only a handful of players would use. Better to focus on other aspects of the game.

Well, all I can say is that with how most games are built now, most of them are not LAN support, so I strongly doubt if it's something that's going to be supported in Sanctuary: Shattered Sun. Most players really wouldn't be interested in using the feature, so it's a waste of resources.

It should have this feature, unless it is not a multiplayer game. I know one can be able to play online with others, but how wonderful it would be if you can play offline with friends.

Unfortunately, most gamers have moved on from using such a feature. This is how technology works in our world today. When a better upgrade comes out, the old one's get dumped. This is exactly what have occurred to making games with LAN support.

This is very true. I believe lan support is still possible and some may opt for that if they can do it for that nostalgia when playing games but in terms of newer games having the plan option, that is not going to be seen as much as it was years ago.

Yeah, that's very correct. Sadly, it's just an expenses most gamers who plays Sanctuary: Shattered Sun wouldn't take part in, so it doesn't justify the money wasted on it if bigger percentage of the gamers won't use it.
