If you want to master and win RTS games, you need to learn unit counters. What I do in this case is study the game and I always remember the units which will win or lose. Doing this alone assures your victory but you need to understand that unit counters change with updates, so I make sure to stay informed. Another way I learnt about unit counters is watch the Pro players play.

I agree with studying the game, but usually once I get going into a match, I kind of forget who does what sometimes, making it annoying.

Sure, I love the unit counters. In Age of Empires, I understand that the knights beat archers, and archers beat flying units. So, it's very neccessary to remember this which I do by making a list of them all. I also mix my units to create an unbeatable team. My suggestion for anyone who wants to effectively win with unit counters is to utilize infantry and cavalry together, it works magic

This is an interesting thread. I know a bit about unit counters and what I do is make sure to pair units with some essential powers. For instance, I pair a giant with a healer in Clash Royale. However, I've also been experimenting to find the winning teams and it has really helped me build my dream team.
