How many factions is perfect for you?

While there are games that only have 3 to 4 factions, we have others that have up to 10 and even more. Little is merrier for me, just 4 is enough to make a game balanced. It can be hard to keep up with 12 factions, and learning how to counter each one of them.

How many factions is perfect for you?

If I was making my perfect RTS game it would have three factions with asymmetrical doctrines. Some games have got close to this. Grey Goo and Universe at War are two which immediately spring to mind.

It's not really thenumber of factions which matter to me more the difference between them. Id rathe have two factions which are totally differenty to each other rather then 20 which are all varations on a theme.
