How Do I Make Custom Units for Supreme Commander?

Fellow commanders! I want to create my own epic units for the Supreme Commander. I have read guides and tutorials but I don't seem to grasp anything. But I know we have Pro commanders here to help out as usual.
Can someone help me with making my own custom units?

Use the Supreme Commander Mod Editor, but you should know that it takes a lot of time. I will suggest copying units from the base game. It would be good to see YouTube tutorials if you have any difficulties.
