Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty is known to be the game that defined the RTS genre as we know it to be today because of what the game introduced to the genre. Elements such as base-building, resource gathering, and unit production are all carried out in real-time when playing Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty.

The game was developed by Westwood Studios and released in 1992 on MS-DOS.

Not the first RTS, but certainly the first recognised RTS.

I never played this game, I wasn't even born for the time, but I have heard about it, it seems like it was a before and after in the RTS games industry, I think that's why it became so famous, because of how innovative it was in its time.

This game is already 32 years in the making and it's still up and going. It's truly a classic RTS game. I haven't played it though and I'm not sure if I would be doing so anytime soon. I will be keeping it mind.

I played Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty years ago and loved its innovative resource management and strategic depth. The houses like Atreides, Harkonnen, and Ordos offered unique units and strategies. While I don't play it now, its influence on RTS games remains unforgettable.
