Our pathfinding is designed to support bridges. Units can travel on top of or below bridges. Bridges can be destroyed which would damage the units above which would take fall damage, and everything below which would get crushed. Perhaps bridges can be repaired, who knows?

Literally don't know =) playtesting required

The ability to repair bridges would definitely be awesome to have in the game. Would be amazing if they did add a feature like that and could make a huge difference to the gameplay and how things turned out within a game.

I could be wrong but has any other game added something such as rebuilding things that have been destroyed?

The bridges being repaired should be the fun 🤩 part of it. I mean when I know that I can make use of the resources in the game to repair those bridges that have been damaged is cool.

C&C had repairable bridges in 1995 =)
I can't believe I forgot about C&C! Saying that though, I was 9 years old back then and it was a game I knew of but never played at that age so that could be why I never remember they also had repairable bridges.

Bringing back repairable bridges in a newer more updated game would be awesome to see though and would definitely work in Shattered Sun!

You’re going to need to choose wisely as resources poured into rebuilding a bridge can’t be used on additional units or base structures.

I understand that perfectly. The bridges should be worth rebuilding once they are destroyed before I can decide to spend my resources on rebuilding them.

One of my demands (sorry, one thing I would like to see) is a map which is cut by a large chasm; it doesn't have to be straight. This is an area of the sphere which is still under construction. The energy from the sun blasts through this split in the sphere. The only way to get ground units across is to transport them, but the heat from the sun causes damage to anything crossing. The only way to get a large force across and assault the enemy is by building a bridge across this gap. Who ever places the first bridge has the advantage; but if your assault is unsuccessful the enemy can swarm across to counter-attack.

That would be pretty epic.

I love this idea!

That sounds really good and would for sure create something to fight towards to be the first with a bridge and that advantage! It's something different and unique as well for a game and something that would get players to play strategically as well to be the first.

That is an awesome idea and I love it!

When you combine bridges with the ability to destroy the terrain you open up so many strategic considerations. It's cool to think that even if the sphere was cracked, players will be able to counter it by building over the destroyed section.

My thoughts are that you’re going to have to be incentivised to bridge build as there is always the option to rely on air drops. How would this happen? That’s for bigger brains to determine.

=) sorry yes we have been very busy preparing for PAX lately. But also very excited!

As always this is just speculation as things will change with playtesting, but I'd guess they wouldn't be buildable, but would be repairable. Which is lot like C&C.
